About Us
The Vicksburg Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was chartered on November 6, 1976, at the Holiday Inn, by fourteen women with the vision of Sorors Maggie Ree Walker and Gloria Johnson Hebron to establish a chapter in the Vicksburg-Warren County area. Then Southern Regional Director and future 19th National President Yvonne Kennedy installed them into the Vicksburg Alumnae Chapter. Our mission is to continue to expand the sorority’s commitment of providing public service to our local community, addressing national issues, and supplying assistance toward international crises.
We continue to support service and civic organizations that are committed to promoting human welfare such as Mountain of Faith Women’s Restoration Shelter, American Cancer Society, and The Salvation Army. We are also life members of the Vicksburg Branch of the NAACP.
From humble beginnings and over forty valuable years, our membership has increased to more than 100 sorors. Ever mindful of the sorority’s mission, we continue to uphold our commitment to service and dedication to the community and citizens of Vicksburg-Warren County.
